2009 Awards Night

The second annual Award Night was held on Saturday, October 17 and the concluding event to a memorable Homecoming weekend at Adrian High School. The event is sponsored by the Adrian Schools Educational Foundation and the Adrian High School Alumni Association to honor nine employees and alumni.

The audience was treated to a special evening as they listened to experiences at AHS that set in motion the success these outstanding alum reached in their personal and professional lives. The Outstanding Teachers and Mentors also set examples of dedication and going the extra mile that impress our students and touch their hearts and minds. A special treat for the evening was a piano solo and duet by Laura Wilkerson Langley'89 and her daughter Megan. They performed on a Steinway Grand piano as a kick off for the "Isn't It Grand!" piano drive to purchase a Steinway piano for the Performance Theater.

Meet the 2009 Recipients:


Outstanding Teachers & Mentors: Annie Howard, Claudie Wallace, Lisa Eddy; Outstanding Alumni: Marcy Myers Heronimus'90, Garry Clift'70, Shelley Flickinger Hickman'60.
Recipients unable to attend were: Dr. Robert Dennis'38, Dr. Robert Barnes'55 and Michael McCombs'65.

2008 Awards Night


Nine honorees took the stage at Adrian High School on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, to be recognized in the first annual Outstanding Teacher and Alumni Awards event sponsored by the Adrian Schools Educational Foundation and the Adrian High School Alumni Association. Click here to see and hear speeches.


All recipients had the chance to reflect on their time at the school and some of the highlights during the era in which they attended. Many former teachers and friends that meant a lot to them were acknowledged. All received a plaque to commemorate the occasion. The outstanding teachers received a $5,000 stipend from a special fund set up in the Adrian Schools Education Foundation by alumnus Terrence Keeley '77.


The Outstanding Alumni rode in the homecoming parade and all recipients were recognized at the homecoming game. Bob Krueger conducted the AHS band and orchestra as they played the AHS fight song at homecoming. He was honored for his lifelong contribution in music, as a high school band and community band director in New York, and graciously accepted the invitation to conduct the mighty Maple band.
