All About Me--Mrs. Jill Roberts

My name is Jill Roberts, and it is with great enthusiasm that I will be your child’s first grade teacher this year. Because I will be spending a great deal of time with your child, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself, both personally and professionally.

I have been a teacher for twenty-four years. I have taught 9 years here at Lincoln and I am thrilled to be a returning member of the Lincoln Elementary School teaching staff and community. Prior to the past several school years, I taught kindergarten at Lincoln. I also taught first and second grades at Garfield Elementary School in Adrian. The majority of my career was spent teaching in a small community south of Chicago, Illinois.

I was born and raised near Chicago, Illinois. I attended college at Eastern Illinois University where I received my B. A. Degree, and I earned my M. A. Degree through Olivet Nazarene University in Curriculum Design and Instruction. I am currently working on an Education Specialist Degree through Siena Heights University. I have a twenty-year-old daughter, Alicyn, who  attends EMU and a sixteen-year-old son, Sam. My husband, Larry, taught in Addison Community School District and is now retired.

My mission as a teacher is to develop my students into lifelong learners and problem solvers. I want to inspire in them the love of learning and the joy of self-expression by modeling my enthusiasm for learning. I will create a classroom environment for them in which they can safely practice and experiment with their new knowledge. I will encourage my students to develop self-discipline. I will help them examine their lives and help them realize the futures they are able to dream.

It is important that I communicate well with both my students and with you as parents. I will be keeping in close contact with you throughout the year. I will send a weekly newsletter home every Friday keeping you up-to-date on subject matter being discussed within the classroom, up coming events, and information of interest to you. Together, we will make your child’s year a successful one. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Jill L. Roberts
